THREE KILLED PHAROAH HOUNDS RECOVERED FROM THE SEA
Earlier this morning, the Operations' Centre of the Armed Forces of Malta at
Luqa Barracks was informed by the Victoria Police in Gozo that in the
precincts of "Tax-Xwejni" ,under the Tal-Gordan lighthouse area there were
three tied up dogs floating on the sea's surface.
The AFM Maritime Squadron's Bremse-class patrol boat P-32, which recently
has been permanently stationed in Gozo with an all-Gozitan crew, was
immediately detailed to proceed to the area to locate the sighted tied up
dogs and recover them. The patrolboat could not make much headway inshore
due to the inclement swell prevailing in the area at the time.
By late afternoon, when the sea swell conditions improved, the P-32 crew
managed to recover three dead Pharaoh Hounds (Klieb tal-Fenek ) which had
been tied up together and ditched at sea. They were later landed at Mgarr
Harbour by the AFM crewmen to awaiting Police and Animal Welfare officers.
